Configuring the review display widget

The display widget controls how product reviews appear on your site and how customers submit new reviews.

To update it, open your store dashboard and go to Reviews > Display Widget. The page is called Widget Customization.

Editing the main widget labels

In Widget Settings, use the Labels section to set the main text shown in the widget.

  • Widget Heading is the title above your reviews. The default is Customer Reviews.
  • Button Text is the main review submission button. The default is Write a review.

Select Show all customizable texts to edit the text used throughout the review form, including modal step headings, button labels, form labels, placeholder text, star rating labels, sort option labels, error messages, success messages, and the AI Summary Label. If you leave one of these fields blank, the default text is used.

Changing colors

The Colors section controls the widget’s visual styling.

  • Star Color controls the rating star color. The default is #ffa500.
  • Verified Icon Color appears when using Masonry View. The default is #22c55e.
  • Card Background Color appears when using Masonry View. The default is #fafafa.

Use Reset beside a color field to restore that color to its default value.

Allowing photo and video uploads

The Media section controls whether customers can add photos or videos when submitting a review.

  • Allow Photo Uploads lets customers attach photos to reviews.
  • Maximum Photos Allowed controls how many photos a customer can upload. The default is 3, but your plan may limit the available choices.
  • Allow Video Uploads lets customers attach a video to a review when available on your plan.

Videos are limited to 1 per review for all plans.

Choosing what appears in the widget

The Options section controls which review elements are visible.

  • Show Average Rating is enabled by default.
  • Show Rating Distribution is enabled by default.
  • Show Write Review Button is enabled by default.
  • Show Write Review Button in Footer is disabled by default.
  • Hide Widget When There Are No Reviews is disabled by default.
  • Show Customer Location is enabled by default.

Configuring sorting and filtering

The Sorting and Filtering Options section controls how customers browse reviews.

  • Show Search Field is enabled by default when available on your plan.
  • Show Sort Dropdown is enabled by default.
  • Show Rating Filter is enabled by default.

If Show Search Field is not available, the dashboard shows an upgrade prompt instead of the setting.

Review Feedback (Helpful Voting) and AI summaries

Review Feedback lets visitors mark reviews as helpful and sort by most helpful. Enable Enable “Helpful” button on reviews to turn it on when it is available on your plan.

AI Review Summaries shows AI-generated summaries of customer reviews on product pages. Summaries are automatically created when a product has 3 or more reviews. Enable Enable AI-generated review summaries to show them when available on your plan.

Choosing a layout

The Layout section controls the review display format.

  • List View is the default layout. It shows reviews in a traditional vertical list.
  • Masonry View shows reviews in a Pinterest-style grid and prioritizes reviews with photos and videos.

Masonry View requires the Starter plan. If it is not available, the widget uses List View.

Previewing and saving changes

Use Widget Preview to see how your widget will look while you edit the settings. If your store does not have a product with approved reviews yet, the preview shows sample content.

Select Save settings to apply your changes. Select Restore Defaults to reset widget customizations, including colors, text and labels, display settings, and sorting and filtering options.
