The plugin that got handed off
ReviewX was built by WPDeveloper. In 2025, WPDeveloper stepped away — support now describes ReviewX as a fully independent product no longer managed under WPDeveloper. The new owners rewrote it as v2 and pushed every store through a forced migration — one that some stores report getting stuck partway through.
The security record is hard to look past: 14 public advisories since 2023, including a high-severity privilege-escalation flaw with a public proof-of-concept, and a fresh 2026 cluster — unauthenticated remote code execution and multiple data-exposure bugs, patched only this spring. Add public reviews reporting reminder emails that never send, and an account requirement just to use the free plugin.

To be fair to ReviewX: the current team ships updates frequently and the plugin is free to try. But a review plugin executes on every product page of your store — its maintenance history and security record are part of what you’re installing.

Yes — Reviewbird ships a native ReviewX importer. Because ReviewX stores reviews in WooCommerce’s own tables, the importer reads them directly from your database: ratings, review text, and verified-purchase status. No CSV export required.
Is ReviewX discontinued?
Not exactly — the original WPDeveloper era is over, and the standalone ReviewX Pro plugin was discontinued, but ReviewX continues under new management as the rewritten v2. The forced migration to v2 and the security advisories that followed are why many stores treat the handoff as their cue to re-evaluate.
Will my star ratings survive the move?
Reviewbird adds JSON-LD review schema and pre-rendered review content to your product pages, which is what Google needs to show star ratings in organic results. The Google Product Ratings XML feed for Shopping is available on Plus and Everything plans. Google applies its own eligibility rules and timing.
Does Reviewbird slow down my WooCommerce site?
No. Review storage, search, email delivery, and media processing all run on Reviewbird infrastructure. The widget loads without holding up your product page, and review content is pre-rendered so search engines and AI assistants can read it without executing JavaScript.
