Open Reviewbird from Apps in your Shopify admin. Check the selected Shopify store before changing settings or managing reviews.
Give staff access
Manage access to the installed app through Shopify's user and role settings. Ask the Shopify store owner to check access if a staff member cannot open Reviewbird.
The embedded Shopify app does not use the WooCommerce dashboard's organization Members screen. Do not create a separate WooCommerce store or account to give someone access to this Shopify store.
Reconnect when permissions change
If a Reviewbird page asks you to reconnect or approve permissions, follow that page's Reconnect action in Shopify, then reopen the app and check the status.
For example, Google Customer Reviews can require reconnection before its settings become available. The onboarding widget check can also ask for theme access. Approve access with an account that is allowed to manage the app.
If opening the app fails, reopen it from Shopify's Apps menu in the correct store. If the problem continues, contact support with the store domain, the page you were opening, and the error message. Avoid including session tokens or private customer information.
Manage AI connections
Open Settings > AI connections to connect an AI app through MCP.
- Copy the MCP server URL shown on the page into your AI app.
- Enter your Shopify store address when asked.
- Approve the connection in Shopify admin.
- Return to AI connections and check the connected app.
Starter and higher plans support read access. Each connection can read this store only and starts with write actions off. Write actions require Plus or Everything, and only the verified Shopify store owner can enable Allow write actions for a connection.
Staff can view and disconnect their own connections. The store owner can view and disconnect all store connections.
Removing a staff member's Shopify access does not automatically disconnect their existing AI connections. The owner should select Disconnect for any connection that is no longer needed. Turning off write actions limits the connection to reading; disconnect it to remove its access entirely.
Before uninstalling
- Export approved reviews and download the file while you still have access.
- Check Settings > Plan for your subscription and any email usage charges.
- Check any Klaviyo or Shopify Flow workflows that depend on Reviewbird.
- If you only want to pause review requests, turn off sending in Settings > Collect instead.
Use Shopify's app management screen to uninstall Reviewbird when you are ready to remove it.
What uninstalling does
Uninstalling disconnects Reviewbird from Shopify, cancels the Shopify app subscription, stops active synchronization, and cancels pending scheduled emails. It also revokes the store's AI connections. Previously incurred usage charges can still apply.
Do not rely on the storefront widgets or app links continuing to work after removal. Check the theme and remove any obsolete review placements.
Store data can be scheduled for deletion after uninstalling. Shopify privacy deletion requests can start permanent cleanup sooner, so there is no guaranteed recovery window. Keep a downloaded export of any reviews you need.
Reinstalling
Reinstalling on the same Shopify store can reconnect the existing Reviewbird store if its data has not been permanently deleted. It does not restore a canceled paid subscription, canceled scheduled emails, or revoked AI connections automatically.
After reinstalling:
- Check Settings > Plan and approve a new paid subscription if needed.
- Check product sync and imported reviews.
- Check your theme blocks and widget placement.
- Review request timing and sending choices in Settings > Collect.
- Reconnect any AI clients you still want to use.
Contact support if data you expected to recover is missing. Do not assume reinstalling will bring back permanently deleted data.
Customer privacy requests
Reviewbird processes Shopify customer privacy requests. A customer data deletion request can anonymize related review, order, and email information and cancel pending requests for that customer. A store data deletion request can remove the store's saved data.
Use Shopify's privacy workflow for these requests. Deleting or hiding an individual review is a different action from deleting a customer's personal data.
