Syncing product reviews between different WooCommerce stores

Note: This is an advanced use case. You most likely don’t need this unless you have multiple WooCommerce stores that sell the same products.

If you use multiple WooCommerce stores to sell the same products, you can group these stores together so that they share reviews. Reviewbird does this with a feature called Store Groups.

Using store groups

Store groups are useful when you manage multiple related stores and want approved reviews to appear across stores that sell the same products.

When you create a group, Reviewbird starts syncing existing approved reviews between the stores in that group. New reviews sync automatically after they pass moderation and become approved.

Opening store groups

  1. Go to the Reviewbird dashboard
  2. Open your organization dashboard by clicking your organization name at the top right of the screen.
  3. Go to Organization > Store Groups.

The Store Groups page shows each group name, how many stores are in the group, and the stores included in that group.

Requirements

  • You need at least 2 eligible stores to create a store group.
  • Each store must have Reviewbird installed and configured.
  • Each store must be on the Plus plan or higher.
  • Stores in a store group must have one or more products that match by external ID or SKU
  • A store can only belong to one store group at a time.
  • Only stores in the same organization can be grouped together.

Creating a store group

  1. Go to Organization > Store Groups.
  2. Click Create Group.
  3. Enter a Group Name.
  4. Select at least 2 stores.
  5. Click Create Group.

After the group is created, Reviewbird begins syncing existing approved reviews in the background.

Matching products between stores

For a review to sync to another store, Reviewbird needs to find the matching product in that store.

Reviewbird matches products by:

  1. Product external ID (the WooCommerce product ID) OR
  2. Product SKU

If Reviewbird cannot find a matching product in the destination store, that review will not be synced to that store.

Syncing existing reviews

When a store group is created, Reviewbird syncs existing approved reviews between all stores in the group.

Only original reviews are synced. Synced copies are not synced again, which prevents review loops between stores.

Syncing new reviews

New reviews sync after they are approved. Reviews that are pending, flagged, rejected, or still being moderated do not sync until they become approved.

Reviews can sync regardless of where they came from, including widget submissions, email requests, imports, API-created reviews, and supported integrations.

Syncing media

Photos and videos attached to a review are shared with synced copies without duplicating the underlying media files.

If media is added to or removed from the source review, Reviewbird can update the synced copy’s media records.

Understanding synced review copies

Synced reviews are independent copies in each destination store.

  • Editing or deleting a synced copy does not change the original review.
  • Editing or deleting a synced copy does not change other synced copies.
  • Synced reviews are marked internally as synced copies so they are not re-synced again.

Editing a store group

  1. Go to Organization > Store Groups.
  2. Click Edit next to the group.
  3. Update the group name, add stores, or remove stores.
  4. Click Save Changes.

If you add stores to an existing group, Reviewbird starts syncing existing approved reviews for the updated group.

Removing a store from a group

Removing a store from a group stops future review syncing for that store.

Previously synced reviews remain in the store. They are not automatically deleted.

A store group must have at least 2 stores. If removing stores would leave fewer than 2 stores, you will be prompted to delete the group instead.

Deleting a store group

  1. Go to Organization > Store Groups.
  2. Click Delete next to the group, or open the group and click Delete Group.
  3. Confirm the deletion.

Deleting a store group stops future syncing between those stores. Previously synced reviews remain in their stores.
