Sharing reviews between products with product groups

Product groups let you group similar products so they can share reviews. When a customer views any product in the group, they will see reviews from all products in that group.

This is useful for stores that merchandise products as separate products that share the same basic functionality. For example, some stores might prefer to use separate products for quantity or size or color instead of using variations but still have those products share the same product reviews.

Configuring product groups

1. Go to your store dashboard.
2. Go to Reviews > Product Groups.

The Product Groups page shows each group name, the number of products in the group, when it was created, and actions to edit or delete the group.

Creating a product group

1. Go to Reviews > Product Groups.
2. Click Create Group.
3. Enter a Group Name.
4. Search for products by name or SKU.
5. Select the products you want to add.
6. Click Create Group.

Use a descriptive group name, such as Blue T-Shirt (All Sizes), so it is easy to recognize later.

Adding products to a group

When creating or editing a group, use the Products in Group search field to find products by name or SKU.

Search results only include products that can be added. Products already assigned to another group are excluded from search results.

A product can only belong to one product group at a time.

Adding products in bulk

You can also start a product group from the Products page.

1. Go to Store > Products.
2. Select the products you want to group.
3. Click Group Products.
4. Enter a group name.
5. Click Create Group.

Products that already belong to a group cannot be selected for bulk grouping.

Sharing reviews

After products are grouped, Reviewbird includes reviews from all products in the group when displaying reviews for any product in that group.

Product ratings and review counts are recalculated for the grouped products after products are added, removed, or when a group is deleted.

Handling product variations

Product groups are created from parent products, not individual variations.

When reviews are displayed for a grouped product, Reviewbird also includes reviews from that product’s variations.

Editing a product group

1. Go to Reviews > Product Groups.
2. Click Edit next to the group.
3. Update the group name, add products, or remove products.
4. Click Save Changes.

When you add or remove products, Reviewbird recalculates ratings for the affected products.

Removing products from a group

1. Open the product group.
2. Find the product in Products in Group.
3. Click the remove icon next to the product.

After a product is removed, it no longer shares reviews with the group. Its rating and review count are recalculated on its own.

Deleting a product group

1. Go to Reviews > Product Groups.
2. Click Delete next to the group.
3. Confirm the deletion.

Deleting a group does not delete the products or their reviews. It only stops the products from sharing reviews with each other.

This action cannot be undone. If you want the products to share reviews again, create a new product group and add the same products to the new group.
