Bulk review requests

Bulk review requests let you queue review request emails for past orders from your connected WooCommerce store.

Use this to request reviews for historical orders that were placed before Reviewbird started sending review requests automatically.

Before starting

Bulk review requests require:

  • An active WooCommerce connection
  • Review Requests enabled in Emails > Email Settings
  • Permission to update the store

If a bulk review request run is already in progress, you cannot start another one until the current run finishes.

Starting a bulk request run

Go to Emails > Scheduled Emails.

Select Request reviews.

In the Request reviews dialog, choose a Cutoff date. Orders created on or after this date will be checked, starting with the oldest matching orders.

Select Request reviews to start the run.

How orders are processed

Reviewbird fetches historical orders directly from your connected store.

Up to 5,000 orders are processed in a single request.

Only eligible fulfilled orders are scheduled. Bulk review requests use the same normal review-request rules as automatic review requests, including:

  • Review requests must be enabled.
  • The order must have a customer email address.
  • The order must match the configured Order Fulfillment Status (Store > Settings).
  • The customer must not be unsubscribed.
  • The customer must not be on the email blocklist.
  • The order must pass country filters.
  • The order must contain at least one eligible product.
  • The customer must not have already reviewed the eligible products, when reviewed products are excluded.
  • The store must still be within its review request usage limits.

Orders that already exist in Reviewbird are skipped. Orders that already have a review request scheduled are also skipped.

When emails are scheduled

Eligible review request emails are scheduled for about 10 minutes after the bulk run processes the order.

This means bulk requests are intended to send soon after the run starts. They do not wait for the standard review request delay used for new automatic order events.

Tracking the run

After the run starts, Reviewbird shows a confirmation message:

We’re preparing review requests now. We’ll email you a summary when the run finishes.

While the run is in progress, the Request reviews button is disabled and the page shows that a bulk review request run is already in progress.

Summary email

When the run finishes, Reviewbird sends a summary email to the user who started the run. If that user email is not available, the summary is sent to the store owner when possible.

The summary includes:

  • Cutoff date
  • Remote orders processed
  • Review requests queued
  • Orders skipped because they already exist in Reviewbird
  • Orders skipped because they are unfulfilled
  • Orders skipped while waiting for delivery confirmation
  • Orders skipped because the customer unsubscribed
  • Orders skipped because the customer is on the email blocklist
  • Orders skipped because of country filters
  • Orders skipped because there were no eligible products left to request
  • Orders skipped because a review request already exists
  • Orders skipped because a plan or usage limit was reached
  • Orders skipped for other reasons

After requests are queued

Queued emails appear on the Scheduled Emails page.

From there, you can preview, send now, cancel, or exclude a customer from future emails, depending on the email status.
